Message The first time I took the Z to the track with totally OEM brakes and kinda dirty (OK for the street, but not for the track) brake fluid, I was getting lots of shimmy in the steering especially when braking from about 90-100 for a slow 90 degree turn. Thought I'd warped the rotors, but it wasn't that.

The second time, I had flushed the fluid and replaced with DOT4 and had installed Axxis Metal Master pads on the front. This is a very worthwhile investments of <$100 and a couple hours' time. I had also tweaked the engine and handling in between the two track days. But even though I was going faster, my brakes held up better. But then my Slicktop is a featherweight!

Also focus on technique...you want to brake almost opposite as you do on the street. You want to brake very hard for a short amount of time. Braking "easy" leaves the pads on the rotors longer, and makes them overheat.

Oh, and be careful you dont burn a hole in your #6 piston ;)
